April 4th Fly-In

(From L to R) Bill Patterson, ADM, Congressman Peterson, & Peter Vroom, ASET

ASET's Spring Fly-In on April 4 in Washington, D.C. was an overwhelming success. The event was held inside the Capitol Building with an afternoon session of speeches and presentations from a variety of distinguished industry leaders and Members of Congress. Over forty participants took part in the day's activities as well as several congressional staffers and a handful of Members of Congress.

Following the luncheon program, coalition members attended several meetings with individual Members of Congress on the Transportation & Infrastructure, Agriculture and congressional Steel Caucus Committees. These meetings were designed to help educate Congress on the issue of productivity legislation and to ask for their support of H.R. 1667.

In addition to Members of Congress and ASET participants, there were media representatives in attendance as well. To view a few of the stories released after our Fly-In, please click here.

New Congressional Cosponsor

ASET is proud to announce Congressman Robert E. Wise, Jr. as our newest cosponsor of H.R. 1667. Congressman Wise, Democrat from West Virginia is a member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee as well as the congressional Steel Caucus. As a well-respected and experienced Member of Congress, Wise will bring strong name recognition and prestige to ASET's legislation. We anticipate further congressional support in the coming months ahead.

New Members of ASET

We are pleased to welcome our newest members to ASET. Joining the coalition are Food Distributors International, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, and P.I.& I. Motor Express. The addition of such diverse companies such as these will enhance ASET's stature in the transportation community as well as on Capitol Hill. With our momentum growing we need to keep the pressure on Congress to act and there is no better way to achieve this goal than to increase our membership and voice in Washington, D.C. If your company is not yet a member of ASET, please call Jake Jacoby at (703) 549-9467 to find out how you can join.
